Kenosha EPC has a position available for a Senior Electrical Engineer. For this role, Kenosha EPC offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at our Centennial office. Qualified candidates will have a diverse technical background in electrical engineering coupled with experience interacting with the design teams and leading tasks on projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for engineering, designing, commissioning, and starting electrical systems, as well as specifying electrical equipment critical to the safe and efficient operation of oil and gas and other facilities. Occasional travel and site visit might be required.
Scope/Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design:
- Develop detailed electrical designs and specifications for oil and gas facilities, including power distribution systems, motor controls, instrumentation, and lighting.
- Develop electrical drawings and documents that include load lists, one-line drawings, power plans, hazard classification maps, cable routing (cable tray/raceways), cable & conduit schedules, heat-trace design, grounding, and lighting plans (including photometric studies).
- Coordinate with designers to create all necessary design documentations, then review and stamp these documents for construction.
Equipment Selection and Procurement Support:
- Evaluate and select appropriate electrical equipment (Switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, Transformers, Transfer Switches, etc.) and components for oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, especially National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Prepare material requisitions, review vendor submittals, and prepare bid analyses to support procurement.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all electrical systems and components meet industry safety standards and regulatory requirements, and participate in multidisciplinary reviews, safety audits, and inspections.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including process/mechanical engineers, piping designers, project managers, and client operations teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of electrical systems, including drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals. Generate progress reports as required.
Required Experience/Credentials:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- PE certification is required.
- 10 years of experience in electrical engineering minimum with a focus on midstream oil and gas projects.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM).
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific codes and standards (e.g., NEC, API, NFPA).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Beneficial Skills:
- Ability to effectively read and comprehend P&IDs
- Experience working on manufacturing facilities projects.
- Design and implement control systems for pumps, compressors, valves, and other equipment.
- Develop instrumentation drawings and documents such as IO lists, instrument lists, datasheets installation details, instrument locations drawings, wiring diagrams and loop sheets. Control system deliverables such as control system architectures, IO card schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagram
- Specify and select instrumentation and process control hardware (PLC, DCS IO etc.)
